but he struck the tail-pane of his Hurricane
and was killed.

1944. He was a pilot of a paratrooper transport in the Caen area of
Normandy on the night of the 5th of June 1944. He also received the Bronze
Star (US) on the 30th of October 1945 for this mission.

Squadron. He was K.I.A. on the 30th
of October 1940. He was shot down in his Hurricane
I (V7536) over the Channel at 13:00hrs.
joined No 43 Squadron in early July
1940. Mills shot down a Bf 109
on the 13th of August and scored
three more kills during the Battle of Britain. J.P.Mills was awarded the
D.F.C. on the 7th of April 1944.
D.F.C. took over as Squadron Leader of No
87 Hurricane Squadron from the 18th of August from Squadron
Leader T.G.Lovell-Gregg who had been killed on the 15th
of August 1940.

(L1095) at 18:25hrs. His body was washed ashore later.
