Monday the 2nd of September 1940

Day: A 50 per cent increase in daylight sorties by Luftwaffe. Airfields in the South East again the main objective, Biggin Hill was hit again with Detling and Hornchurch hit badly and a bomb dump at Eastchurch was detonated. Around 250 aircraft took part in the raid.

Night: Night raids again mainly over Liverpool, other raids over South West England, East Anglia, the Midlands and some mine laying was carried out.

Losses: Luftwaffe 35: Fighter Command 17.

Weather: Anti cyclonic weather settles in fine and warm with early mist and haze.
