No 222 Squadron was formed on the 1st of April 1918 at Thaos, Greece. It was disbanded in the February of 1919. The Squadron was re-formed at Duxford on the 5th of October 1939 as a Fighter Squadron flying Bristol Blenheim's. They converted to Supermarine Spitfire's before the May of 1940
No 222 Squadron moved to Hornchurch on the 30th of August 1940
