Wednesday the 24th of July 1940

Day:  Heavy formation attacks resumed on convoys in the Thames estuary and off Dover with some exploratory inland raids. The Vickers aircraft factory at Brooklands was bombed by a solitary Do 17, but most of the buildings escaped any damage.

Adolf Galland lead his new command into battle over England for the first time and shot down a Spitfire.

Night: Poor weather at night curtails most activity.

Losses: Luftwaffe 13:  Fighter Command 3.

Weather:  Light cloud over Channel with rain in most other areas. Visibility is poor in the West.
