Friday the 26th of July 1940

Day: It was quieter than the previous day. Shipping was attacked with some losses around Portland and the Isle of Wight by small formations from VIII Fliegerkorps . 

The first R.C.A.F. Squadron arrived in Britain equipped with Canadian built Hurricane's.

Night: Improving weather later enables night minelaying along lower east coast and Thames and Severn estuary

Losses: Luftwaffe 2:  Fighter Command 1.

Weather:  Heavy overcast with continuous  rain.
