Thursday the 25th of July 1940

Day: Heavy fighting over Channel convoys (The Germans now had some radar on the French coast). Air attacks on shipping over a wide area, but especially off Dover, in collaboration with E-boats and involving over 60 Ju 87's of Stukageschwader III and over 30 Ju 88's from KG 4, all with heavy fighter escort. Fifteen Fighter Command squadrons were in action. 5 ships were sunk and 5 damaged plus 2 destroyers leaving Dover were damaged.

Night: Reconnaissance, Bristol and English Channel and minelaying in Thames Estuary and the Firth of Forth. Also bombing raids over West Central Scotland.

Losses: Luftwaffe 16Fighter Command 8.

Weather:  Fine and clear, but some Channel haze.
